Frequently asked questions
Short answers. For anything else, write to hello@satelit.md.
What is a credit?
The unit of the quota. A small response from the database costs 1 credit. Larger routes cost more, and each route's cost is in the pricing table. Credits are deducted only on a 2xx response.
What happens if I go over the quota?
The API answers 429 quota_exceeded and stops until the reset. You never pay more than the plan. Unused credits do not carry over.
Can I try it before I choose a plan?
Yes, without a key. The console answers with saved real data and /v1/sample answers live, for 0 credits. Your key comes with the plan you choose.
How do I activate a plan?
You request the plan from the dashboard. We reply by email with the terms and the payment steps, and the plan starts on your account.
Do you have an agreement with the shops and other sources?
No. Prices, tour offers, the flight schedule, rest places, listings and the chains' lists are read from public pages. We have no agreement with the sources and grant no licence over their data. A source that does not want to appear writes to abuse@satelit.md and we take it out quickly.
Where does the rest of the data come from?
The rate comes from BNM. The cap, the station registry and the tariffs come from ANRE. The acts come from Monitorul Oficial. Shops and places on the map come from OpenStreetMap. The news items are our newsroom's own summaries, with links to the originals. The indexes and the recipes are our own calculations.
How is the gravity score calculated?
From three inputs: how alarming it would seem to an ordinary person in Moldova, how many people it affects and how many publications confirm it. The result is a number from 0 to 100. It is an estimate, not a judgment on whether the story is true.
How often does the data change?
Each source has its own pace. Shop prices: shops are read in turn, all the time. News: hourly. Tours: every 6 hours. Rates: once a day, after 13:00. Fuel, deals, flights, real estate and law: once a day. Rest places and map shops: once a week. Tariffs: when ANRE approves a new decision.
Can I republish the data?
You can use it in your product and show it to people. You cannot resell it raw without a written agreement. The Start and Creator plans show the attribution line. For OpenStreetMap, ODbL always applies. For shop prices we grant no licence over their data.
Can I call the API straight from the browser?
Yes, CORS is open and there are no cookies. But a key placed in a public page can be copied by anyone. Keep the key on the server and cache the response.
Do you give phones, photos or personal data?
No. The API gives no people's phones or e-mail addresses, no owners' names, no photos and no logos. News cards may have a thumbnail, with its credit, only from outlets we chose.
Is there an SLA?
On the Enterprise plan, by contract. On the other plans, no: the API status is public, on the status page.
Can I add “Sign in with Satelit” to my site?
Yes. Satelit is an OpenID Connect provider. You create an app in the dashboard and follow the OAuth guide. The token gives only the name, the language and the email address, if the person agrees.
